The best possible preparation for this Christmas is to load fresh cherries into rum and let them stand in the cold. Not only will you have a completely free luxury gift under the tree for cherry lovers, almost free of charge, it will also be out of work.

You will need:
- fresh cherries
- rum, very basic one will be fine
- spoon of sugar
- 1 star anise
- 1 roll of cinnamon
Collect cherries. Wash, dry. Put in a jar.
Add sugar and spices.
Pour in rum so that none of it peeks out. Cap. Shake. Leave in the cold and dark.
Don’t use it before Christmas.
